"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will involve the patient in the proper use of food, fresh air and exercise."

Thomas A. Edison

Welcome to Biccard Health ...

... where traditional health integrates with scientific researched studies, focussing on the body's inherent ability to heal given the right environment and personalised medicine through clinical nutrition, wholefood diets, targeted supplementation, botanical medicine, and lifestyle changes.

At Biccard Health, Cindy is dedicated to provide a functional and integrative naturopathic medicine approach, in which the underlying and causative factors of poor health are assessed through personalised investigations.  This includes a comprehensive assessment about your health history along with current symptoms, functional blood pathology, genetic testing and / or hair tissue mineral analysis.  It really is about fulfilling the role of a 'health detective' and customising the intervention strategies tailor made for you.

Naturopathic medicine does not necessarily work with a labelled diagnosis, but rather supporting the body with a 'systems biology approach' focusing on the a cellular upstream biology methodology, that does not look at the body in isolated parts, but rather a holistic view on how one system affects another.

Naturopathic medicine allows you to be EMPOWERED and educated on YOUR body and how it responds to YOUR environment.  There is no one-size-fits-all approach to health - our focus is PERSONALISED medicine!

Through various investigative studies (as supportive scientific benchmarks), which may include genetic testing and/or functional pathology, or toxic screening - we may create a targeted approach to assist you in your healing journey.

Since Hippocrates, a physician from 2500 years ago, said that "all diseases start in the gut", we now have a plethora of published researched studies supporting the various correlations between the gut and many other systems in the body, such as the Gut-Brain-Axis, Gut-Immune-Axis, Gut-Heart-Axis, HPA-Gut-Axis, HPO-Gut-Axis ... and the list goes on.

As a certified G.E.M.M. practitioner, Cindy is able to identify (through a comprehensive assessment and functional pathology testing) where assistance is needed for the recovery and restoration of the gut and facilitate the process to improve your health and vitality.

There may be many contributory factors that causes us to experience poor gastrointestinal function, such as lifestyle, diet, genetics and the environment. By identifying the various 'triggers', we are able to guide you on how to improve your diet through a whole-food nutrient dense alternative, recommend lifestyle changes and prescribe Nutrigenomic supplements to target key biochemical imbalances and assist you with gut-restoration.

Common symptoms of poor gastrointestinal function:

  • Oral thrush

  • Low stomach acid

  • GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) / Acid reflux

  • Abdominal bloating

  • Abdominal pain

  • Gastritis

  • Heartburn

  • Dyspepsia

  • Constipation

  • Diarrhoea

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome

  • Inflammatory Bowel Disorder

  • Parasites / Pathobionts

  • SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth)

  • Gluten Sensitivity

  • Coeliac Disease

  • Food intolerances or sensitivities

  • Intestinal permeability aka"Leaky gut syndrome"

  • Chronic fatigue

  • Weight management issues

  • Acne and skin disorders

  • Hormonal imbalances

If there's something crucial we learnt since 2020 and the covid pandemic - it should be how to seek ways to strengthen our immune systems.

Our immune system responds to what is 'thrown' to it through the environment and/or genetic predispositions. It is the internal health of the various cells, tissues and organ systems that navigates how well we're going to recover.

In some cases our immune system may be over-regulated and in others almost unresponsive or under-performing.

Functional naturopathic medicine investigates the why's, what's and when's to get to the root of the health concern and then addresses it from the cellular level upwards to support the process of homeostasis to recovering.

Disorders that may be managed through functional naturopathic medicine are (but not limited to):

  • Digestive disorders such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Coeliac Disease, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis

  • Psoriasis and Rosacea

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis

  • Grave's Disease (over-active thyroid)

  • Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (under-active thyroid)

  • Long Covid

  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

  • Multiple Sclerosis

An (unfortunate) overlooked topic for most people is the health of the male reproductive system.  Conventional medicine may often involve invasive investigative studies along with treatments that include identical hormones, which have been shown to have unwanted side effects that may cause skin conditions, 'man-boobs', and even increasing baldness.

Conditions that are often successfully treated and managed through functional naturopathic medicine are:

  • Andropause (male menopause)

  • Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

  • Erectile dysfunction

  • Infertility

  • Prostatitis

Your emotional wellbeing, that includes how you respond to stress is a vital factor in how you perceive life.   This may have a direct result in your overall qualify of life, and how you engage with others.  Whilst we can't take your stressors away (I wish!), there are numerous ways through lifestyle, diet, nutritional supplements and botanical (herbal) interventions you can have support on the following:

  • Anxiety

  • Stress

  • Cognitive decline and memory

  • Mood

Nobody likes to struggle with skin conditions - it affects our confidence levels and how we see ourselves portrayed to the world outside. Facial scarring can often cause emotional scarring too!

We often become so desperate to have these skin conditions resolved with expensive lotions, drying agents and pharmaceutical interventions that may have nasty adverse effects to other systems in our body. Wouldn't it be great to understand, why my skin is having breakouts ... and it is unfortunately not only teenage skins susceptible to this.

Skin conditions that are often and successfully treated and managed by functional naturopathy are:

  • Acne

  • Eczema

  • Fungal infections

  • Psoriasis

  • Rosacea

  • Pruritus (Itchiness with strong urge to scratch)

Maintaining good sleep hygiene is essential for good health and vitality. Daily habits along with environmental factors all contribute to healthy and restorative sleep. Conditions related to poor sleep include, but is not limited to are:

  • Disruptive sleep or low sleep maintenance (waking numerous times during the night or not being able to fall asleep again)

  • Insomnia

  • Restless leg syndrome

  • Circadian rhythim disruptions (often experienced by shift workers).

Being a woman can be a beautiful blessing, but that goes without saying we may also face quite a few health challenges that if not addressed, may cause significant distress. Some of the challenges we may encounter are:

  • Amenorrhoea (absent periods)

  • Oligomenorrhoea (irregular periods)

  • Dysmenorrhoea (painful periods)

  • Low libido

  • Menopause

  • Peri-menopause

  • PMOS (Previously known as PCOS now Polycystic Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome)

  • PMS (Premenstrual syndrome)

  • Urinary tract infections - recurring

Whether you’re dealing with challenging symptoms right now that you can't find a resolution for or wanting to prevent future degenerative conditions, a genetic test can reveal your unique blueprint — helping you support your body in the way it’s designed to work.

At Biccard Health, we encourage people to have their genetic test done - unlike blood pathology that fluctuates in-and-out of range during your lifetime, genetic testing is the reflection of how your genes work.  Your genes are not your destiny - by understanding which metabolic pathways are not working in optimum, you are able to make sound decisions based on valuable clinical research to make the dietary and lifestyle changes that supports your health.  Your practitioner may recommend the best supplements to support your blueprint and that alone may save you thousands in expensive trial-and-error buying from health stores. This may improve your energy, allowing you to enjoy longevity, and enhancement in your cognitive function.

"Cindy is amazing and I would highly recommend her.  Her naturopathic knowledge is second to none.  Cindy took the time to listen and explore what was going on for me as there were a variety of issues. It wasn't just about the symptom but exploring the root cause that so often shows itself in different ways. Not only did I feel listened to but I felt cared about as Cindy followed up with a phone call to see how I was going! That does not happen very often that's for sure. I've regained my energy levels, sleeping better and don't feel bloated all the time. It's a journey but I am fortunate to have Cindy guiding me through it!"
